You Can Find an Overview of Our Standards Here
ISO 9001 is a standard for quality management systems and defines the requirements for such systems. An organization must meet these requirements in order to be able to provide products and services that meet customer expectations as well as legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the product or service. At the same time, the management system should be subject to a continuous improvement process. The requirements contained in the standard are applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product. If the requirements of the standard are met, the organization can have this confirmed with a certificate.
The IATF 16949 standard combines existing, general requirements for quality management systems in the (mostly North American and European) automotive industry. They were jointly developed by the IATF members and published based on EN ISO 9001.
About 30 percent of the more than 100 existing car manufacturers subscribe to these harmonized requirements of the seven IATF members (BMW, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Renault, Stellantis and VW).
The international environmental management standard ISO 14001 defines globally recognized requirements for an environmental management system and is part of a family of standards. This includes numerous other standards on various areas of environmental management, including life cycle assessments, environmental indicators and environmental performance evaluation. It can be applied to both manufacturing and service-providing companies.
ISO 50001 is a global standard issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to help organizations and companies establish systematic energy management; it can also be used to demonstrate an energy management system that complies with the standard through certification. It was published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in June 2011.
ISO 45001 is a standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in March 2018 and describes requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system (AMS) and guidance for implementation. ISO 45001 has replaced BS OHSAS 18001.
ISO / IEC 27001 focuses on the security of data and information. The exchange of information is essential for a successful business relationship. Important here is the awareness with a trustful handling of the provided data. In order to guarantee the security and integrity of this, the ISMS was set up in the organization and verified by certification to ISO / IEC 27001.
By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer, distributor or EU authorized representative declares, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008, “that the product conforms to the applicable requirements set out in the Community harmonization legislation concerning their affixing.” (Art. 2 No. 20) and “that it takes responsibility for the conformity of the product with all applicable requirements set out in the relevant Community harmonization legislation concerning their affixing.” (Art. 30 (3)).
The CE marking is therefore not a seal of quality, but a marking to be affixed only by the manufacturer or his authorized representative (Art. 30, par. 1), by means of which he expresses that he is aware of the specific requirements applicable to the product he markets and that the latter complies with them.
Our CE certifications can be found in the following overview.
Founded in 1894, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent organization that tests and certifies products for safety. The company’s headquarters are located in Northbrook in the US state of Illinois. UL International Germany GmbH is located in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt and is the headquarters for Europe and Latin America UL does not “approve” products. Rather, the organization tests products, components, materials and systems to determine if they meet specific claims. If they do, these products are allowed to carry the UL Mark, for which a fee is charged, as long as they meet the specified standards.
The UKCA marking (officially UK Marking, in English usually UKCA Marking from English “UK Conformity Assessed United Kingdom Conformity Assessed”) is a marking on certain technical and medical products with which the manufacturer declares conformity with corresponding regulations of the United Kingdom. It was created in the context of the Brexit as a British variant of the CE marking and is comparable to it.
For the Production of Environmentally Friendly Products
Würth Elektronik is committed to manufacturing environmentally friendly products. We work to achieve this by eliminating lead and other hazardous materials. This is in accordance with European Union directives, other international regulations and our customers’ “Green Procurement” guidelines.
Due to the scope of the number of global requirements in the various product lines, the most common ones are discussed below. In addition, you can find us in various databases such as BOMcheck, CDX, IMDS, etc. If the information you need is not listed, please contact us.
REACH is another EU chemical regulation, which informs Europe-wide about hazards and risks that can arise from chemicals. As an EU-based company, we are familiar with the requirements and aware of the responsibility and obligation associated with them.
A team works continuously on the early identification of new substances and timely compliance with the directive. Continuous re-testing by our accredited partners enables us to confirm the conformity of our products at any time and we are always able to provide information on this. We also ask our suppliers at regular intervals whether and to what extent further of the listed substances are contained in the goods to be supplied to us. The appropriate REACH statement as well as the list of all SVHC articles can be found in the download list below.
As one of the first manufacturers we have consequently taken up the topic and changed our manufacturing process exclusively to the fulfillment of environmental standards. We have not manufactured any products that do not comply with the current and next RoHS Directive (Restriction of the Use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) of the European Union (EU). This directive restricts the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment as of July 2006.
