Short introduction:
“We all try to understand each other without judgement.”
Emilio: The diversity of the IC support team is one of the main identifiers. Having people from Mexico, France, India and the US makes it a dynamic and enriching environment. That is only for the US team!
Emilio: From the language, accent, culture and humor, we all try to understand each other without judgement. If effective communication wasn’t already a challenge, getting your message across four different cultures the way you are thinking about it is a challenge of its own. And then add technical value to it.
Emilio: We were doing a training on effective communication and we eventually landed on the diversity of the team and how each one communicates as we are accustomed. But each one had their own idea of the proper way of communicating, some thought it was harsh and other thought it was sugar coating it
Emilio: Exactly. So we eventually agreed on a middle ground and acknowledged that we all think and process information in vastly different ways. That is one part of the huge involvement of different cultures working and coexisting. But the benefit is as great too.
Emilio: The outcome comes from in a form of creativity that allows you to “think internationally” even before you speak.
Emilio: You find new methods of problem solving that were absolutely unknown for you because your culture deals with them in a different way. You get to notice where your culture exceeds at something, and where it lacks compared to others. In fewer words, everyone brings in their key differentiator, and we all learn from everyone’s areas of improvement.
