Würth Elektronik ICS Expands REDline Power Boxes Series

Würth Elektronik ICS has been successfully developing customer-specific solutions for power distribution, signal transmission and function control in mobile machines and commercial vehicles for over 20 years. For customers who attach particular importance to modularity, short development times and a housing that protects against environmental influences, the company has developed a platform concept for compact, customizable power distribution solutions in standard housings: REDline Power Boxes. Two new boxes have recently been added to the range: REDline Power Box Twin and REDline Power Box Mini.

Following the successful market launch of the first two boxes, REDline Power Box Medium and REDline Power Box Hybrid, Würth Elektronik ICS has expanded its box portfolio in order to meet the needs of its customers even more specifically. The new boxes seamlessly follow the proven concept and offer customers advantages such as short time-to-market, high cost-effectiveness, modularity and a convincing service concept.

For Central Power Distribution

Compared to the previous models, the REDline Power Box Twin offers a substantially larger customizable circuit board surface of 160 x 150 mm on which significantly more components can be placed. The Power Box is well suited for use as the main power distributor for the vehicle’s electrical systems. The combination of a large PCB, flexible connector system consisting of two LeavySeal connectors (freely configurable between the 31-pin and 39-pin versions) and up to four power inputs or outputs open up many possibilities in terms of customization.

For Modular Power Supply or Optional Versions

REDline Power Box Mini is the smallest product in the REDline Power Box line: It features a 68 x 90 mm PCB, up to two power elements and a 21-pin LeavySeal connector (available in four encodings). As with all REDline Power Boxes, the built-in PCB can be adapted to meet the customer’s individual requirements. The two power connections enable connection of a MIDI fuse to the outside of the box. Thanks to its compact size and rugged design, the REDline Power Box Mini can be installed almost anywhere in the vehicle. It also offers the possibility to integrate optional functions into vehicles and to configure the power distribution on a modular basis.

Intelligent Combination of Power Distribution and Control

REDline Power Boxes offer the great option to combine power and signal distribution with control functions. The relay-based control modules from Würth Elektronik ICS, including the Nano ICCS, Micro ICCS and ICCS Micro CAN, can be easily integrated into the PCB to deliver the widest range of different functions. The Micro ICCS can be used, for example, as a battery voltage monitor. The Nano ICCS enables functions to be triggered with a time delay, while the REDline Power Box can be integrated into communication networks using the Micro CAN module. This makes it possible to perform logical switching and run diagnostics on functions.

Würth Elektronik ICS will be exhibiting at the bauma in Munich from 8 to 14 April 2019 in the hall A5, booth 248.
