How the output capacitor can cause instability of a power supply

In a switching power supply, the output capacitors are commonly selected based on output voltage ripple and transient response requirements. However, they also influence the frequency response of the power stage, and in turn, the stability of the feedback control loop. In this webinar, the role of output capacitor parameters in the stability of a voltage-mode buck converter is analyzed, supported by real measurements on a DC-DC converter prototype.
