High Efficiency, <30mW Standby QR AdapterThe NCP1340 is a highly-integrated quasi-resonantflyback controller suitable for designing highperformance off-line power converters. With anintegrated active X2 capacitor discharge feature, theNCP1340 enables no-load power consumption below30 mW.The quasi-resonant operating mode features aproprietary valley-lockout circuitry ensuring stablevalley switching down the 6th valley. After the 6th valleythe controller transitions to a frequency foldback modeto reduce switching losses in lighter load conditions.As the load continues to decrease the NCP1340 willenter a Quiet-Skip™ mode to efficiently manage powerdelivery while minimizing acoustic noise.Secondary side synchronous rectification (SR) isimplemented with the NCP4305 for optimizedefficiency across all operating modes. The NCP4305features precise zero current turn off and 12 ns turn-offdelay from current sense to the driver allowing for theoptimal SR conduction period in quasi-resonant mode.Also, the light load detection (LLD) feature modulatesthe drive voltage as the load decreases and shuts downthe driver for optimal light and no-load performance.
