The TIDA-00548 design is an isolated dual-channel4- to 20-mA analog input reference design, whichcan be used as a sub-part for functional safetyprogrammable logic controllers (PLCs). This referencedesign delivers digitized input values using a 32-bithigh-performance analog-to-digital converter (ADC).The RM4x dual-core ARM® Cortex®-R4 based CPUwith lockstep technology and built-in self-tests (BIST)compares the converted values of up to nineselectable analog input signal chain paths. The dualinput approach with two separate burden resistorsallows redundant measurement of either a single 4- to20-mA loop or two independent loops. Hercules™ RMARM Cortex-R based MCUs for functional safetyapplications (part of the SafeTI designs packages)help to develop systems according to IEC 61508SIL 3.
