This document presents a system solution based on Infineon CoolMOS™ CFD7 silicon superjunction power semiconductors, drivers and microcontroller for a bridgeless totem pole power factor correction (PFC) converter operated in continuous conduction mode (CCM). In order to use the CoolMOS™ CFD7 in CCM operation a pre-charge circuit is added to the traditional totem pole topology. This document shows the operation of such a circuit and the design procedure. The EVAL_3K3W_TP_PFC_CC is intended for those applications which require the highest efficiency (99 percent) and high power density (92 W/in3), such as high-end server and telecom.
