On-Off Keying (OOK)

Enhancing Digital Isolation

Keep Your Signal Noise-proof

Digital isolators play a Important role in modern electronics, ensuring the safe transfer of data and power between different circuits while maintaining electrical isolation. One of the key decisions when designing digital isolators is choosing the modulation scheme that best suits the application.

The WPME-CDIx series offer an On-Off Keying (OOK) modulation technique to transmit data from the Input to the Output side. It is a technique where data is encoded by switching the output between two distinct levels - typically high and low. This simplicity translates to lower complexity in both the transmitting and receiving ends of the isolator. The binary nature of OOK means that it is relatively resistant to amplitude variations caused by noise. This robustness ensures that data transmission remains reliable, even in noisy environments.

Between two parallel angular IN and OUT curves there is a red signal curve that has a short frequency during the high phase of the IN and OUT curve and then becomes constant again.
