Beschreibung

The NCP12601PD65WGEVB evaluation board is a flyback topology converter that provides a variable output voltage based on USB−PD standards, i.e. from 5 V to 20 V, and delivers a nominal output power up to 65 W. Input voltage range is 90 Vrms up to 265 Vrms. The switching of the converter is ensured by the NCP12601 controller in AA version. The NCP12601 is a multi−mode controller (combine QR mode and CCM mode) with USB−PD support such as auto−tuning OCP or low−loss DSS function allowing using the common transformer. The SFF pin of NCP12601 allows shift of the Frequency Foldback characteristics for influencing the whole efficiency of the converter. The controller version AA switching with nominal frequency 65 kHz is equipped with a proprietary valley lock−out scheme, low−loss DSS function and a lot of latched protections. The over−current protection is timer−based protected – the controller stops switching after 64 ms. When the short−circuit condition is recognized, the controller allows only 8 switching pulses. Synchronous Rectification is used to achieve high efficiency. A 150 V MOSFET is controlled by the SR controller NCP4306. An internal Light Load Detection circuitry helps to achieve low no−load input power. The output voltage is controlled by secondary side USB−PD controller FUSB3307 from ON Semiconductor. The controller ensures the value of output voltage with cable−drop compensation and several secondary side protections, especially over−current/ over−voltage protection. The output voltage can be also controlled by a NCP431 with fixed output voltage 20 V, 12 V and 5 V. When the NCP431 is used for output voltage control, the PD board have to be removed and appropriate solder jumpers should be shorted.
