Description

The breadth of LED applications has grown to encompasseverything from general lighting to automotive, industrial and test equipment, sign boards and safetyinstruments. Feature requirements for LED drivershave become more extensive. The latest LED solutionsrequire drivers that are compact, efficient, lownoise, and have high dimming ratios and advancedfault protection. The LT3922 meets these demands. The LT3922 synchronous LED driver with integrated2A, 40V switches can be configured as a boost, buckor boost-buck LED driver. Its high efficiency integratedswitches fit into a tiny 4mm × 5mm QFN package. Thisdevice integrates Linear’s most advanced switchingtechnologies, condensing high power capability intotight spaces while controlling the edge rates and mitigatingunwanted EMI. The LT3922 features controlledswitching edges that do not ring—offering just theright balance of high efficiency and low noise. Theycan be run at up to 2.5MHz for compact solutions. The tiny LT3922 LED driver features low EMI, highefficiency and fault protection required in automotiveenvironments. It can handle 36V automotivetransients and 3V cold crank. Its Silent Switcher®architecture, spread spectrum frequency modulation(SSFM) and controlled switching edges makeit ideal for powering LEDs with low EMI. Its flexibletopology is useful in daytime running lights, signallights, taillights, and headlight segments as well asdashboard and heads-up displays with high dimmingratios. Built-in fault protection reduces the number ofextra components required to protect against shortand open LEDs.
