The AP72250 is a high current, synchronous boost converter providing high efficiency, excellent transient response and high DC output accuracy. The targeted applications are low voltage power cell and other handheld devices. The AP72250 utilizes two switches to support synchronous boost topology to generate 1.8V to 5.5V from wide range of input sources. The high-side FET body diode can connect either to its SOURCE or its DRAIN. This provides output short circuit protection and high-impedance path between VIN and VOUT during fault or disabled. The boost provides at least 2A output current for output voltage of 5.2V and input voltage range of 3V to 5V. The current control scheme handles wide input/output voltage ratios and provides low external component count with outstanding performance in line/load transient response and seamless transition between boost and pass-through modes. The AP72250 also features UVLO, OTP, and OCP to protect the circuit. This IC is available in a small 1.6x1.2mm, 12 balls WLCSP package.
