An advanced, multimode A/VDSL2communication processor, the Vx185 providesleading edge processing power, VoIP, multimodeDSL, wire-speed performance and ahardware security block, while supportingcarrier class quality of service (QoS) and VoIP.Ikanos’ Vx185 supports all flavors of singleline and bonded DSL, including ADSL, ADSL2,ADSL2+, and VDSL2, and further enhancesIPTV and triple-play networks by offeringfeatures such as retransmission (G.INP),dynamic rate repartitioning (DRR), andseamless rate adaptation (SRA).The Vx185 integrates cost-effective supportfor bonding (ITU-T G.998.1 and G.998.2) bynatively interfacing directly to two integratedanalog front-end devices. This built-in supportis designed to allow service providers toextend the reach of their advanced broadbandservices by coupling two pair of copper wirestogether. Bonding can also be used to increasethe data rate over shorter distances. Together,bonding and vectoring can be combined topush aggregate data rates up to 300Mbps.The Vx185 supports a rich set of interfacesthat easily integrates with home networkingtechnologies such as Gigabit Ethernet,802.11n, MoCA™, HomePNA™, HomePlug®,ZigBee, Z-Wave, and G.hn. A SATA interfaceenables Network Attached Storage (NAS)without compromising performance. Alsointegrated is a dedicated DSP engine to deliverfull-chain deployment-proven VoIP.By employing industry-standard G.Vector(ITU-T G.993.5), the Vx185 is designed toenable telecommunications service providersto deploy 100 megabit-per-second (Mbps)service over traditional copper lines at 1/10ththe cost of fiber. The Vx185 adds to Ikanos’NodeScale Vectoring architecture, which spansthe central office, remote cabinets in fiberto the node (FTTN) networks, and now thecustomer premises.Ikanos provides a comprehensive suite ofVx185 software that includes operating systemindependent drivers for Ethernet, xDSL, andintegrated peripherals. FusivWare™, Ikanos’Linux-based software, includes a networkingstack, voice processing, and networkmanagement functions which enable systemvendors to quickly design residential gateways.
