Description

The SSL5231BT is a highly integrated, high-precision buck controller with an external MOSFET. It is intended to drive LED lamps in dimmable lighting applications up to 25 W. The SSL5231BT is designed for high power factor, phase-dimmable applications.

The SSL5231BT operates in Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM) with constant on-time control. It provides a constant output current control with good LED output current accuracy. Adaptive switching frequency gives freedom to choose the inductor, which enables the optimization of inductor size, efficiency and EMI.

The SSL5231BT can start up and operate in switching mode directly from an external resistor without capacitor charge pump supply or auxiliary supply. This feature simplifies the VCC supply. So, a low-cost off-the-shelf inductor can be used, which provides flexibility in application design.

Remarks:

  • From SSL5231BDB1289Inductor L3 and L1=3.3mH is not considered, only L2 is considered at output signal with AC input voltage of 120V.
  • From SSL5231BDB1288Inductor value L1=L2=L3=1.5mH is not considered, only L4=660uH is considered at output signal with 230V AC input voltage
  • From Single panel LED driver solution for dimmable 18 W Downlight applications based on SSL5231BT, Inductor value L1=L2=L3=1.5mH is not considered, only L4=680uH is considered with AC i/p voltage of 230V
