This reference design reduces system cost andenables a compact design for a reinforced, isolated,10-kW, three-phase inverter. A lower system cost andcompact form factor is achieved by using a dual gatedriver in a single package and bootstrap configurationto generate floating voltages for the gate drive powersupply. The dual gate driver UCC21520 has a built-indead time insertion configurable by a resistor option.This unique dead time insertion protects the threephaseinverter against shoot-through due to overlap ofthe input PWM signal. System reliability is improved byprotecting against overload, short circuit, ground fault,DC bus undervoltage and overvoltage, and IGBTmodule overtemperature in hardware.
