The NCP1239 is a fixed-frequency current-mode controllerfeaturing a high-voltage start-up current source to provide a quick andlossless power-on sequence. This controller is pin-to-pin compatiblewith the former NCP1236. Only few components need to be changedin order to plug this new controller generation in an existing board.This application note will compare the performance of a typical 65-Wapplication evaluation board originally equipped with the NCP1236controller and upgraded with a NCP1239.A NCP1236 demonstration board has been selected for this test.The specifications of this board are listed in Table 1.
