- Original design lacked PoE functionality.
- Incorporates Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) capability.
- GB PoE+ Ethernet USB Adapter offers three interfaces:
- USB Type-C (USB 3.1)
- RJ45 1 Gbit/s Ethernet interface with integrated PoE function
- Connector for a DC/DC converter with an adjustable output voltage of 6 to 18 V and a maximum output power of 25 W.

Basics of GB-Ethernet interface
- Magnetics module (E.g., WE-LAN): This consists of a transformer and common mode choke (CMC). It reduces common-mode currents, which are unwanted electrical currents that flow in the same direction on both conductors of a twisted-pair cable. Common-mode currents can interfere with the differential signal carrying the data.
- Bob Smith termination: This termination circuit, which includes a capacitor and four resistors, is connected between the differential signal pairs and ground. It reduces susceptibility to interference from unused wires on the RJ45 connector by providing a path for common-mode currents to flow to ground.

The GB-Ethernet USB adapter was developed based on the EVBLAN7800LC Evaluation Board from Microchip. The board is available in two different variants: discrete and integrated. The integrated design combines the functionality of the discrete components into fewer, more streamlined modules. This integration results in a potentially more reliable design, reducing PCB space and simplifying assembly.
